Atrangi
Location - Jumeirah Al Qasr, Dubai
Atrangi, located within Dubai’s iconic Jumeirah Al Qasr, offers an immersive sensory experience inspired by the summer residences of Sheikhs. Conceptualised and built by Designsmith, this restaurant pays homage to the nostalgic memories of homemade dishes prepared by grandmothers, with each element telling a story of this culinary journey.
The space integrates ample glazing to seamlessly merge indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing panoramic waterfront views and a natural light-filled interior that evokes an al fresco dining atmosphere while maintaining comfort. The name ‘Atrangi,’ meaning ‘unique’ and ‘colourful,’ encapsulates the essence of the concept, reflecting India’s diverse cultural and culinary heritage. The fit-out combines natural wooden flooring, earthy-toned walls, and rattan furniture, blending ethnic charm with contemporary comfort.
Notable features include the transformed architectural facade and grand double-height entrance. A key challenge was creating an all-year outdoor seating area. The solution: a glass-enclosed ceiling and walls that can open in winter and close in summer, preserving comfort year-round. Atrangi is a celebration of culture, culinary diversity, and timeless design.
